Our Hometown

You have to remember that Needles isn’t like most cities these days.  If you come through town at the wrong time, many places will be closed.  If the sidewalks weren’t concrete, half of them would get rolled up.  That is because our businesses are family run.  Keep this in mind when visiting!

Great Places to Eat in Needles

Trains

Yup, we have trains aplenty.  The old El Garces Train Station is being renovated.  Over 100 trains still pass through town everyday with an Amtrak stop in the wee hours.  Rotary Int’l will be cleaning up/painting some train cars on Front Street and are hoping to turn it into a train park for enthusiasts.

The El Garces/Harvey House

This grand train station and hotel was built

in 1908.  Fred Harvey operated a restaurant

and hotel at the train station.  After being

long abandoned, the Friends of El Garces

convinced the City to save the structure.

It is currently being renovated into a heritage hotel, similar to La Posada in Winslow, AZ.  A grand re-opening is scheduled for Dec 12, 2008 with hotel  rooms opening in sometime in 2009.    Make a cyber visit at www.elgarces.org

Route 66 Cellars

Needles’ finest winery offers wine tasting!

Historical Needles Theatre

Built as the Masonic Temple and theatre, this building is as solid as the day of their dedication ceremony in November 1929.  Try our link to the Friends of the Needles Theatre!!  Half the marriages in town were sparked here . . ..
